Rack Viewer: Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Rack Viewer desktop application collects. Rack Viewer is developed by Elevation Technology Solutions ("we," "us"). If you have any questions, email elevationtechnology@outlook.com.

The short version: your photos and video never leave your computer. Rack Viewer never uploads, scans or transmits them, and there is no analytics or telemetry of any kind. The app connects to the internet in exactly one situation: when you enter a license code, to check that it is valid. If you never enter a code, Rack Viewer never connects to the internet at all.

Your photos and video stay on your computer

Rack Viewer opens the folder you point it at and displays what is in it. All browsing, keeper marking, zooming, video playback and moving of files happens entirely on your own computer. Your files are never uploaded to us or to any third party, and we never see them. Neither are your file names, folder names or folder paths. None of that is ever transmitted.

Information we collect

Only what is needed to activate a license, and only at the moment you activate one. When you enter a license code, Rack Viewer sends the following to our licensing server (hosted by Supabase):

The license code you entered.
A device fingerprint. This is a one-way SHA-256 hash of your Windows machine identifier. It cannot be reversed to identify you, your computer or your location; it exists so one license can be tied to one computer.
Your email address: only if you choose to type one. The email field is optional and may be left blank; the license activates either way. We use it to send your receipt and to help you if you need your license moved to another computer.
Which product is asking (Rack Viewer, as opposed to our other apps), so a code issued for one product does not activate another.

That is the complete list. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no tracking of how or how often you use the app.

When the app connects to the internet

Two moments, both tied to licensing:

When you enter a license code and it is being activated.
On later launches only if a code was entered but activation has not yet succeeded, for example, if you were out of signal at the time. Once activation goes through, the app stops contacting us and runs fully offline from then on.

Using the free version and never entering a code means the app makes no network connections whatsoever.

What the app stores on your computer

These are written to your own machine and, apart from the license details described above, are never sent to us:

Your settings. Your preferences (the trash folder location, preview quality and playback volume) are saved to a settings file in your Windows user profile (%APPDATA%\RackViewer). If you have activated a license, this file also holds your license code, the email address you entered (if any) and a marker confirming activation on this computer.
Your free-trial count. A small file in %LOCALAPPDATA%\RackViewer records how many of your ten free Keeper Cleanups you have used, and the dates the app ran while a code was awaiting activation. It contains no personal information and is never transmitted.
Files you move. When you move non-keepers to the trash, Rack Viewer moves those files into a folder you choose. It does not delete them, copy them elsewhere, or send them anywhere. Emptying that folder is up to you.

You can remove the license details from your computer at any time using Detach License in the app's settings.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone for marketing. Two service providers process it on our behalf:

Supabase stores the license database our activation check runs against, that is, the code, the device fingerprint and the optional email described above. supabase.com/privacy
Stripe handles payment if you buy a license. Checkout happens on Stripe's own page and we never see or store your card details. stripe.com/privacy

We may also disclose information if required by law.

Keeping and deleting your information

License records are kept for as long as the license is valid, so that we can support it and honor activations. If you would like your email address removed from our records, email us and we will delete it. Your license will keep working.

This website

Our website is a static site and does not collect personal information beyond the standard, anonymized server logs kept by our hosting provider.

One exception, and it is not about the app: when you click the download button on the Rack Viewer page, we record an anonymous, timestamped count (via Supabase) so we can gauge interest. That record contains no personal information: just the date and time of the click. It is kept separately from the equivalent count for our other apps. Children

Rack Viewer is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us an email address, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
